Online Help for Chasys Draw IES: Processes : Icon Generator

Processes : Icon Generator

What is Icon Generator?

The Icon Generator does exactly what the name says, it generates icons from the current image. The current image (including all layers) is rendered to an image which is then resized into an icon (or icons, if the user has specified several icon sizes).

Methodology

The user is given the option to choose one or more of these icon sizes:

  • 16 x16
  • 32 x 32
  • 48 x 48
  • 64 x 64
  • 128 x 128
  • 256 x 256

Chasys Draw IES then renders the icons of the specified sizes, attaching metadata if and as necessary. You can then save the images as a .ICO file or add hotspots using the markup tool then save as a cursor (.CUR).

The bit-depth of the icons is set as true-color with alpha by default (32-bpp). If you need to lower the bit-depth (e.g. to use the icons in older OSes like Windows 95), you’ll need to edit the automatically added markup attachment.
