Chasys Draw IES is a suite of image editing applications including a layer-based image editor with adjustment layers, linked layers, timeline and frame-based animation, icon editing, image stacking and comprehensive plug-in support (Chasys Draw IES Artist), a fast multi-threaded image file converter (Chasys Draw IES Converter) and a fast image viewer (Chasys Draw IES Viewer), with RAW image support in all components. It supports the native file formats of several competitors including Adobe Photoshop, Affinity Photo, Corel PhotoPaint, GIMP, Krita, Paint.NET and PaintShop Pro, and the whole suite is designed to make effective use of multi-core processors, touch-screens and pen-input devices.

Designed under the mantra of “unique, flexible and powerful”, Chasys Draw IES takes a radically different approach to image editing with the aim of opening up new possibilities for those who dare to be different.

“unique, flexible and powerful”

Chasys Draw IES is built to adhere to four core principles, which I call the “four pillars of Chasys Draw IES”:
  • Character: No photoshop imitations here
  • Performance: Fast, efficient and stable
  • Innovation: New techniques and out-of-the-box thinking
  • Cleanliness: Clean code devoid of bloatware
The adherence to these principles is the reason why it is said that once you go Chasys you will never go back.

Latest Changes (Notes)

The following changes have been made to Chasys Draw IES with the latest release:

Animated PNG, Macintosh PICT and JPEG-XL

This release adds support for Animated PNG, Macintosh PICT and JPEG-XL. All three formats are supported for both read and write. The JPEG-XL implementation supports both static and animated images.

Improved TGA, PCX/DCX, BMP and NetPBM

PCX support now includes multi-page DCX documents and TGA support is now fully TGA ver. 2 compliant and much faster. BMP support now includes all variants of OS/2 BMP, including bitmap arrays, icons, pointers, huffman-1D and RLE-24, as well as odd variants of Windows BMP, such as DDS in BMP. NetPBM is now faster and more reliable.

Lab Color in PSD and EXIF in PNG

Photoshop PSD files using Lab color are now fully supported, and support for embedded ICC profiles has been added for several file formats. Additionally, EXIF data in PNG files is now supported.

Premultiply and Unmultiply Alpha

This release adds support for managing pre-multiplied alpha. Both forward and reverse conversions are supported. The reverse conversion is provided primarily for recovering straight alpha from images that are already pre-multiplied, and this capability has been extended to plug-ins via the plug-in API.
