I have to say, I'd like to see a Linux version. Maybe I will see if it can run in Wine. Maybe the portable version would. It's a lot to take on though and I understand that..up4pc.com
Would you be able to add a lighting effect tool to create an artificial sun to use on photos taken on cloudy days? Not sure how to make it look realistic to add a light source and have it also be able to realistically brighten the photo objects like the sun is really shining.
flood erase please. Chasys draw ies
The "flood fill erase" function is implemented by the "transparency fill" tool. If you're erasing for the purpose of isolating a subject, you may also use the "background erase" tool.

Not a wish here. Just wanted to let you know that you and your program are awesome! Thank you for the gift of your hobby to all of us :)
Thank You!
Easily write Gradient text like photoscape X
This is supported. You can create text with gradients in Chasys Draw IES. To see an example of this, go to File then New, then in the New Project window, select the "Poster or Flyer" option. The sample image created by this option includes re-editable texts with (1) a pattern and 3D effect and (2) a gradient applied.
Update: I guess "Blind Deconvolution" would be a better choice than the Lucy-Richardson one
I've read a little on this and I find it interesting. Let me pursue this topic a little further; we'll see where my curiosity gets me and what comes out of it. Thank you for suggesting this.
Could you add Deconvolution sharpening to your already great sharpening tools? I think something likerhe Richardson–Lucy algorithm would be useful to night photography. Thanks!!
Hi, the "Normal Sharpen" option uses deconvolution, but with a Gaussian point-spread function in a rather small 3x3 window. I'm considering expanding this to 5x5. I'll consider adding more comprehensive support for deconvolution sharpening in the next version.
I have to say, I'd like to see a Linux version. Maybe I will see if it can run in Wine. Maybe the portable version would. It's a lot to take on though and I understand that..
Hi, Chasys Draw IES can install and run under Wine.
To edit raw files like CR3 for Canon EOS R.
Hi,
CR3 support is finally here; please be on the lookout for the next version!
In Chasys Draw IES I am unaware if there is movable guides, if so great, how do you use them. If not that would be quite handy.
Would like a portable version of your softwares so I do not have to install them.
Hi, Chasys Draw IES can be converted into a portable application using the Install To USB option on the file menu. The portable version maintains all functionality with the exception of system-dependent things like file associations and some optimizations. Please note that the loading of RAW files may fail on some computers when using a portable copy due to some system-specific optimizations.
Portable copies of Chasys Draw IES are strictly for personal use as indicated in the license agreement. It is recommended that you prepare your own Portable installations from a working copy of Chasys Draw IES installed on your own computer. You are advised not to use Portable installations prepared by someone else as they may contain modifications, errors or malware.
Ability to work with .FIT format files (Flexible Image Transport System (FITS))
Hi, I've started work on a FITS plug-in and I'm making good progress. If you'd like to be kept up to date on development, kindly drop me a note at support@jpchacha.com.
Make it portable and it is going to be a winner!
It is already portable - after installation, use the "Make Portable" option in the file manu to create a portable copy.
Add a VBA like scripting language which we can use to automate Chasys Draw and program our own behavior or add our own developed features. If this is added we will not have to keep on asking you for various features.
In fact I can go to the length to say that this one feature will create a community of developers who will add features to Chasys Draw as needed.
If interested to know more please email me: yogiyang007@gmail.com
Regards,
YY
Hi Yogi,
This feature is already there. Chasys Draw IES supports scripting at two levels:
* The automation feature, which allows you to sequences of operations such as applying effects, and
* Custom Effect via Program, which allows you to write custom programs in an assembly-like language.
You can also extend Chasys Draw IES via plug-ins.
I am interested in support for Photoshop like layer styles. I mean when we open a .psd file all the layer styles should come up as they are in Photoshop. Can you make this please.
Thank you,
Watermark (auto-restored)...
Hi, watermarks can be added in various ways, but I'm guessing that what you're asking for is a watermark you can define once then you just say "add watermark" and Chasys Draw will apply it, even to a batch of images if need be. Please contact me via email we discuss your use-case in more detail; my thinking is to have these treated as objects just like brushes and textures. Thanks.
2018-04-27 Sear Paul, fine stuff you are programming here, compliments! Now my question: Is it possible for you to program an interface to communicate with open-source freeware libreoffice, you know?! I mean your great Math-program, can you make it, that your math can give fine graphs too the libre office to integrate them into a writer document for example especially?!? :) Thanks for making this possible! Best regards...Anton from Germany.
Hi.I am impressed by your Software.I want one feature. Can you include an OIl BRUSH, showing thick brush strokes ?Is it possible ?
Awaiting your reply.
Hi, Chasys Draw IES accepts oil brushes designed for Photoshop (*.abr files). Is this sufficient? If not, please provide more details and I'll see what I can do.
Chasys Draw perspective correction. Example photo of a painting taken slightly skewed so pick the four corners to set back to a rectangle. Also adjust buildings taken with the camera pointing upwards.
Noted. This should be a quick-win; I'll get started on it immediately.
Automatically align images (rotate, move) by feature tracking. For example to align Prokudin-Gorsky old photos to merge them as RGB.
This is already implemented via Processes > Align Images for Stacking. Please try it out and let me know how that goes.
Hi,
I'm using Chasys Draw IES and I am pleased to use such a wonderful product. It would be even more so, if you may add in support for high colour bit depth editing. I have noticed after import 48 bit photos, your software automatically convert it into 32 bit on save. Unless it is a setting I have missed out, it would be great to be informed of.
Best regards,
g-man
Wow, Liquify tool... I have requested this feature before and now it is available, thank you!!!
You're welcome!
Basic Layer stypes like Drop Shadow, Bevel would be awesome addition to existing feature set, if you are considering to implement Layer styles i would like some styles like Glow, Reflection, Bump map!!! , i know these are hard to code and debug.
Is it possible to add 3D Lights like as seen in RealDraw Pro
Hi,
I am impressed by your Software, it is speedy and super responsive Thank you for your hardwork, i would like to see Some tools like LIQUIFY, & Paint SYMMETRY in Chasys image editor
Hi,
Liquify exists: Effects >> Distort >> Liquify (image warping)
Chasys Draw IES: WIN OS 10 Lenovo Yoga P40
Can we please have an option to display the toolbox, palette, layers, etc. LARGER/BIGGER? My screen resolution is high, and so all these important boxes (and contents) are really, really tiny on my 15" touch screen!
I like all the canvas space, but I'm getting older and the tools are getting harder to see. If we had two or three size choices for the dockers it would be awesome! :D
PS: Your software has better touch screen/pen response than AI!
Hi,
Thank you for choosing Chasys Draw IES. I'll see what I can do about the sizes of the windows and the buttons on them. Thank you!
tools for dotted lines would be a great improvement
Noted. Let me see what I can do.
Disregard the proposed solution to wish #309, as I had a better (and much simpler) idea of how to accomplish the task, each only requiring two special brushes. Brush 1 will adopt part of selection from one layer (grass from the background layer) and apply it on colored sections of the next layer, but with no painting on transparent pixels. Brush two would do the same thing, but only paint on transparent pixels.
Grass could be painted on the forward section of the lions paws, and the other brush could paint the grass directly behind the paws at the right height, allowing the frames to be then positioned and merged like normal to look natural.
This should actually be somewhat simple and quite a powerful toolset.
Hi,
That functionality already exists -- the "below" mode of the cloning brush. When you pass it over the lion's feet, it will copy grass pixels from the layer below. To ensure that transparent pixels are not affected, enable the "Alpha Protect" option for the lion layer.
The ability to insert a frame partially into another frame would be nice. Let me explain; Imagine having a background photo of a home with a large yard on frame 1. You load a picture of a lion in the zoo in frame 2 and cut out the lion. You want to insert the lion into the picture of the yard.
PROMBLEM: If you simply merge the two photos, then with any inspection, the lion will appear to be floating on the tips of the grass in the yard.
SOLUTION: Resize layer 2 to fit the picture of the lion. Put 'slits' in Layer one and then slide layer two to where the lions four feet can go behind the grass a little, then merge the two layers.
I guess this involves two separate things: 1. Being able to make slits in a layer -- 2. Having a function that will resize and reshape a layer to fit a complex image. It could also be done with a selected image, but it would be impossible to tell where to put the slits without being able to move the layer over the background layer and marking the background first, before applying the slits.
I know it is probably asking a lot.
See response to #310 above.
Chasys Draw, latest version; Windows 7 64-bit.
How about an installer/program that actually works under 64-bit Windows 7? I have tried to install the program under Win7/64, no luck. I then installed the program in a 32-bit VirtualBox Windows VM and back-copied the portable version to my main machine. However, it is impossible to get this to run.
Hi,
The installer should work perfectly on Windows 7 64-bit; that's one of the platforms I use for testing. If it won't run on your machine, we need to investigate and find the root case. Kindly contact me via support@jpchacha.com for further assistance.
Hi Paul,
My operating System is Win7 64 Bit 8 GB RAM, Internet Explorer 11.
Thanks for Draw Ies Artist ver. 4.38.04 .
I have also installed the latest German language file
31 March 2016
ver. 4.38.04
Markus Hauser
Markus is doing a very good job and I am very much in favour with his translation.
But I do not get rid of this message box popping up each time I start Chasys Draw IES.
You may select English or German language ... it pops up.
The only way I found to avoid this box, is to disconnect from the Internet, while using Draw IES.
Thank you for your help in advance
Klaus
Hi Klaus,
Thanks for reporting this. Which dialog is that; the "New Message" dialog? Kindly email me a screenshot via support@jpchacha.com. Thanks.
Website: Please make your text frames a percentage of the available screen instead of fixed width. It is very difficult to read because the fixed frame width causes a horizontal scroll bar to come up at the bottom of frames in order to read the full width. this scroll bar is often well below the bottom of the screen. Not all of us have the pixel width needed for your site. This makes the site mobile functional as well. This is the same on Edge, Internet Explorer, and Chrome.
A native 64-bit app would be amazing!
Bonjour Jean Paul,
It would be very lovely, if your program could open PDF files.
Best wishes
Hannah
Wishes for Artist
- Save in PSD and XCF with layers
- Single window
Hi,
Item #1 (Save in PSD and XCF with layers) is coming very soon!
With the explosion of interest in adult coloring books, how about including a way to convert photos into coloring book pages
Hi there! Great program and I'd ask if in Transforms may be added feature for (seamless) pattern creation?
Best regards:
Veselina
Hi Veselina,
That feature already exists: Effects > Image > Make Tile.
Hello John Paul,
I also have a wish: How about, if the measuring tool would also have the option of showing mm oder cm, instead of only pixels?
I, for one, would find that very useful.
Best regards
Hannah
Good idea ... I'll add that.
Another thought that would make photographers happy... Automated (scripted) watermark and/or copyright text that's also capable in batch. So if you have 60 photos you select where you want your watermark/text (bottom left/right etc) and the system will process it in batch for each photo that's open in Chasys.
Done
Hi, I LOVE chasys draw! It's my favorite program to use and I'm really impressed with all the features. There may be an option for symmetry already but if so I can't locate it. I have an application on my kindle that allows you to draw anything around a horizontal or vertical symmetrical line and reproduces it. I'd love to see that on chasys. Thank you for a great program!
Hey, I just downloaded the new version and it seems the program has improved loads since the last time I used it.
Some versions before, there were many things not working (at least on my computer - XP, 1.8 GHz, 1GB RAM - as mentioned in another comment below).
But the latest version seems to work very nicely for me. It now has a status, that I will proably make Chasys Draw my default drawing software.
Nice work!
Just two things: I still can´t fill spaces in my picture with colour (I will send you an email with the image I used) and I´d like to know:
Is there a way, that I can make a text field larger? Because I entered some text into the "Composition for print" -> "Enter text here"-field and the text was so long that it exceeded the field space.
I tried to figure out how to change the size of the text field according to the text length, but failed.
And a wish: Could you maybe put some tooltips into the text-editing window? That would be a great help.
Kind regards
Hannah Czerny
Hi Hannah,
Thank you for giving Chasys Draw IES a try. I've sent you a copy of this information, with screenshots, via email.
Fill picture with color:
If I understood you correctly, what you're trying to do is to fill the background of the picture with another color without affecting the text. To do that, you have the following options:
(1) Use "Effects Brush | Colorize Toon". Run this over the image to apply the new color.
(2) Create a new layer, fill that with a plain color then set its blending mode to Multiply:
The "Fill" tool cannot be used in this particular case because the background isn't uniform.
Resizing the text layer:
There are several ways of resizing the text layer:
(1) Click the auto-size button in the text-art dialog box to resize the box to fit the text
(2) Right-click the text layer and select resize
Tool-tips:
Noted; I'll add them in the next version, which is due for release soon.
Best Regards,
John Paul Chacha.
Hi Paul!
I have encountered some litte errors while updating the german language file for version 4.32.01. Thank you very much for your really good work with Chasys Draw IES!
Here are my findings:
Main Workspace:
- Tool Box on the right where it says "width" and "level": Click then drag, use mouse-wheel; and Click then drag, use mouse-wheel, -> When you mouse over the texts have ; and ,
Menu:
- Image -> Properties... won't translate into german
- Auto Update Failed (when there is no internet connection) -> won't translate into german (Translations are already in new German language file)
All the best,
Markus
Hi Markus,
I'm afraid I've not been able to reproduce the ToolBox error you've described. Does it only occur when the language file is in use? If so, please send me the language file in question to aid in troubleshooting.
I'll look into the two other issues then get back to you. Thanks.
mode symmetry for brush
whatever. Your software very good
rate: 7/10
Thank you! Kindly elaborate on the symmetry mode you're referring to; you can do so by emailing me at support@jpchacha.com. Thanks.
is it possible to make stacked photography as in astrophotography is used - making some macro that will enable automaic processing of stacked files (not just a few, but as in astrophotography - a tousend of them).
Jadranko
PS. Your softwer is awsome!
Hi Jadranko,
Processing very deep stacks with thousands of images is currently not supported because Chasys Draw IES works with images in RAM, as opposed to astrophotography packages which operate on the images directly from disk. That distinction exists because Chasys Draw IES allows you to edit the individual frames (drawing, effects, etc.) which means that they must be in RAM; therefore, you can only load so many. Dedicated astrophotography packages need not edit anything other than the stacking parameters and the stacked image itself, which means that they can stack thousands of images without being restricted by available RAM because they'll just load them one by one as stacking progresses.
In conclusion, then, we can say that such a feature can only be availed by building a separate stacking application that can be used for stacks deeper than what Artist can handle. The "on-disk" operation mode of such an application will greatly reduce flexibility, of course, but it's possible and I'll consider it. Thanks.
chasys_draw_ies_4_31_02 behaves strange when I want to save my work.
It asks me instead, whether I want to restore saved images.
Independent from yes or no DrawIes crashes afterwards. No work is saved.
As a consequence I have reinstalled chasys_draw_ies_4_30_01 on my 64bit Win7 system, this works as normal.
Could it be that chasys_draw_ies_4_31_02 does not allow any more the 8BF plugins to be installed in C:\Program Files (x86)? To where do I have to put those plugins in future?
Thank you for taking care on DrawIes.
Hi,
Sorry to hear that you are having problems with the latest version. Is your copy modified in any way? Did you download it directly from this website?
I'm asking because such issues are usually caused by patches that some download sites add to the software; such patches assume certain things are in certain places and that tends to break things on new versions.
Kindly get in touch with me at support@jpchacha.com for further assistance. Thanks.
@Regarding Wish #282:
Thank you very much for your answer! :)
I´ll will try what you said and maybe, if necessary, get back to you at the support email adress you mentioned.
You're welcome
Unfortunately, the Chasys Draw program is totally not working on my computer (XP, 1.8 GHz, 1GB RAM).
I tried to crop a picture acoording to my selection, but nothing happened.
And I tried to select pixels via magic wand and delete them, but when I selected the delete command from the menu, also nothing happened. Fillig the space with white colour via paint bucket didn´t work either..
And when I press "save", instead of just saving under the same name and location, a dialog box appears, where I have to choose a location.
Can anyone help me?
Hi,
I'm sorry to hear that you're having problems using Chasys Draw IES.
From your description above, I think you're trying to operate the tools using a selection-centric work-flow; this is not working out because those specific tools (Wand and Filling Paint) are not selection-centric in Chasys Draw IES: the Magic Wand erases pixels directly (as opposed to selecting them then requiring you to delete them as a separate step), while the Filling Paint uses the colors in the image as a boundary (as opposed to requiring the user to pre-select the area to be filled). Both tools also have multiple operation modes.
If you have working experience using another image editor such as Adobe's Photoshop, I recommend that you go through the help documentation to familiarize yourself with the differences between Chasys Draw IES and the image editor you've been using. I further recommend that you keep the tool-tip hints enabled, they provide real-time guidance on how to use the various tools. If you need any further assistance, please feel free to contact me at support@jpchacha.com.
I found twice a week the following nonreproducible Error in the event-log: Event ID 59 SideBySide
Error in manifest or policy file "c:\program files (x86)\john paul chacha's lab\chasys draw
ies\Plugins\flt_ABR.dll" in line 10. Invalid XML-Syntax.
Occures since chasys_draw_ies_4_29_01 and still with chasys_draw_ies_4_30_01
on my 64bit Win7 System, however Draw-IES always works fine, may be i am not using flt_ABR.dll.
No such errors with any other program. Thanks for your Chasys Draw IES.
Hi,
I've found the invalid XML and fixed it. The fix will be available in the next version. Thanks for reporting the bug and for using Chasys Draw IES.
Dutch language
Have you checked the download section? There's a Dutch language file available for download.
http://www.jpchacha.com/chasysdraw/download.php#extras
For resampling I am always using Advanced resampling in combination with 5-Windows Sinc (Best) and 9-Lancos Window.
DrawIES only remembers "Advanced Resampling". Would make sense to me that DrawIES remembers the complete parameter combination. Thank you so much.
Noted, I'll make the necessary changes.
